Beyond the Notess: The Living Room Series

This winter, Beyond the Notes is coming home. Beyond the Notes is a concert series started by Sarah Whitney built around conversation between musicians and audiences: you hear great music, ask questions, and get answers right there in the room. The Living Room Series brings that experience into homes around Concord, and it’s all about community: a cozy living room in the middle of winter, around 30 people, music up close and personal, and light refreshments. No classical background needed, just curiosity.

Opening the series: Sarah Whitney, solo violin & loop pedal

Artistic director and founder Sarah Whitney opens the Living Room Series with a solo violin and loop pedal show, an unforgettable musical journey that redefines the limits of the violin. Using a loop pedal, Sarah pushes the boundaries of the instrument, layering soundscapes that sound like a full band and even an orchestra.

Along the way, she’ll pull back the curtain on how the loop pedal works, so you get a behind-the-scenes look at how the music comes together.

Sarah’s shows are designed to surprise and delight, with music ranging from reimagined classical gems by Bach and Mozart to captivating tangos, Broadway hits, John Lennon, and classics like Stand By Me.
