At the event, you’ll:

3. Leave feeling lighter, inspired, and re-energized about your music career

You don’t need to prepare anything. Just come as you are.

Deeply moving, Anthem, is part of our centennial remembrance of the onset of the Great War. The performance is inspired by Wilfred Owen’s iconic poem, Anthem for Doomed Youth, published posthumously in 1920. Weaving together poems, diary entries, letters to loved ones, and music from the era of The Great War, we trace the tremendous worldwide outpouring of emotional and philosophical response from soldiers, composers, and poets who were so deeply impacted. The poignant and fervent words and music of Owen, Sassoon, Brooke, Thomas, Apollinaire, Debussy, Hindemith, Ives, Stravinsky, Elgar, Britten, Milhaud, Ravel, Bartok and Webern find harmonic resonances with the passionate letters of the soldiers, proof of the universal and profound pathos of the turbulent era.

Boston-based Trio Oko—praised for their “profound communication” and “thoughtful choices of timbre, articulation, dynamic contrast, and balance”—joins forces with Sarah Whitney for an unconventional Beyond the Notes concert. Featuring violinist Emma Powell, cellist Mina Kim, and harpist Charles Overton, the ensemble will present a vibrant program spanning Jacques Ibert, Jessie Montgomery, and more.

One of my goals as a coach is to foster thriving communities with amazing musician entrepreneurs who will support and uplift one another up and that's exactly what this event will do!

After a quick welcome, you will meet new likeminded musicians in breakout rooms (5 min)

Then we'll all come back to the main Zoom room, and the floor will open up for you to share what you're up to, a challenge you are facing and make a request for support (only if you want to)

Everyone in the circle is invited to offer support, including me:)

You also don't have to ask for support and can simply be part of the community to offer ideas and/or just listen to others

Aurea Ensemble will premiere The Hour of Clarice: Voicing the Languages of Clarice Lispector with guests Laura Santamaria, soprano & spoken word and Victor Cayres, piano. Inspired by the great poetic and musical resonance of Ukrainian/Brazilian modernist, Clarice Lispector, The Hour of Clarice, is a song cycle for voice and string quartet. Drawn from Lispector’s novels and sung in the original Portuguese, the songs are fused with readings in English translation and music of Bach, Chopin, Ravel, Schumann, Villa Lobos, Marlos Nobre and Chris Turner’s harmonica improvisations.

Aurea Ensemble will perform A Child’s Christmas in Wales.

The mission of Aurea Ensemble is to investigate and invigorate the relationship between music and the spoken word. Aurea aspires to unify the humanities and fine arts in dynamic, accessible & engaging ways through performance and educational outreach. Aurea’s concerts combine poetry with classical, folk and contemporary music, to create performances that sweep from intimate chamber settings to major theatrical venues.

Discover the captivating arc of transformation in music with Concord Conservatory of Music’s own pianist and speaker, Jackson Carruthers, joined by guest violinist Sarah Whitney. Making this program extra special is an appearance by talented CCM students Henry Ziulkowski and Abigail Kirincich! Together, they will show how a single musical idea evolves and expands, much like our own personal paths from novice learning to expertise. Through discussion and live performances, Jackson vividly illustrates how music transforms in real-time and over the course of time, offering an enriching and relatable experience for all.

Sarah will perform with the Aurea Ensemble for the program called New & Dangerous Opinions of Robert Williams, a lively musical experiment in the historic setting of Old Slater Mill

Sarah will join the Music on the Hill Festival performing as part of the program, Appalachian Spring, which will include premiering a brand new loop pedal arrangement of her own!

Beyond the Notes is going on the road and we’re thrilled to be featured on the Music Matters series at the La Grua Center.

Hailed as "Bold...edgy...totally engaging! Not to be missed!" Beyond the Notes breaks down the wall between audience and performers, creating a new experience rich in dialogue about the music and the artists themselves. Indeed, concert-goers are invited to submit questions which are drawn at random and answered on stage by the performers throughout the evening, leading to unexpected and captivating moments none will soon forget.

Artistic director and violinist Sarah Whitney, double-bassist Pascale Delache-Feldman, and cellist Emmanuel Feldman will present an innovative program of solos, duos, and trios including works by Ravel, Bach, Florence Price, Piazzolla, and John Lennon.

Sarah will perform with the Aurea Ensemble for the program called, Secret Signs, a program of works by Shostakovich and poetry.

As part of Sarah’s solo residency at the University of Chattanooga, her activities will culminate in a public solo-show on Friday, April 4, at 7:30 p.m. in the Cadek Recital Hall, UTC campus. This energizing concert will include pop-classical crossovers using violin and loop pedal, as well as innovative repertoire for solo violin. All are welcome to the concert. (Parking is free and easy in the garage behind the Cadek building).
