What Kind of Legacy Are You Shaping?
As the year begins to wind down, I’ve been thinking about the quieter ways our work and our presence leave a mark.
Sometimes it shows up in the obvious moments: the concerts, the big collaborations, the milestones we can point to. But other times, it’s in the small interactions, the gestures no one sees, the ways we choose to show up day after day.
And that’s had me wondering lately…
…what kind of legacy are you shaping?
It’s a question I often explore with my clients this time of year. And what always strikes me is how different everyone’s answers are.
Your legacy isn’t only about the “big” moments - the ones that are easiest to name or celebrate:
✨ Landing that prestigious teaching job.
✨ Finally producing that show you've had in your head.
✨ Collaborating with that artist you've always admired.
Those matter, of course. But so does the quieter legacy you’re creating through the choices you make every day - both as a musician and as a human:
✨ How you show up for others
✨ The conversations you spark
✨ The way you carry yourself through life
Sometimes I wonder how much of our legacy we actively create, and how much simply unfolds through the way we live each day.
That’s the kind of reflection I love exploring with my clients—zooming out, getting clear on what matters most, and aligning the small daily actions with the bigger picture of the life and impact they want to create.
How about you?
When you imagine yourself 10, 20, 30 years from now, how do you hope people will remember you?
And is there anything you might want to shift, even slightly, to move closer to that vision?
